Is it humanly possible to love others unconditionally? I believe it is possible, if we are willing to lay all prejudices aside. The only way to do this is to look deep inside, and to be honest about how we view those who may be different than us.

I'm not just referring to the color of skin, or what region of the world someone is from. I am referring to any differences that make you think less of another person.

I realize this subject can be sensitive, and difficult to deal with. However, it is important to work through any issues that will hinder our ability to build a better world.

To be prejudiced is to have an adverse judgment or opinion formed before hand, or without knowledge or examination of the facts. A prejudice point of view consists of skepticism, a critical attitude, distorted vision that perceives everything as faulty, inferior, or undesirable.

If not kept in check, any of us could fall victim to a prejudiced mindset towards those that are not like us. It can happen when you least expect it.

Common Areas of Prejudice:

  • Low Economic Status

  • Tattoos

  • Single Moms

  • Politicians

  • Addicts

  • Old People

  • Adults Facing Bankruptcy

  • Obesity

  • The Homeless

  • Loud People

  • Rich People

  • Musicians

  • The Unemployed

  • Badly Behaved Children

  • Teenagers

It is very easy to be critical. We often judge others when looking at them from a distance.

Let's remember that everyone has a story. There could be much more to the circumstance than what appears on the surface. Until we've walked a mile in someone else's shoes, we will never really know their story. But God knows the whole story, and still chooses to love us all unconditionally. And for that, I am so grateful!

What does it mean to love someone unconditionally?

It means to love others regardless of one's qualities or actions. The world is full of imperfect people. I'm not perfect, and neither are you. But in spite of our imperfections we are made whole as a result of God's love for us.

We are all here to make this world a better place. Our job is to love God, and to love others. Instead of being self-centered, let's strive to see everyone through God's eyes. This mind-shift will change the way we look at people, and their circumstances.

Some people are in a bad place as a result of their own choices. We are not here to judge them. Instead, loving them through the good times and the bad times shows true compassion and empathy.

I've fallen short of what I'm supposed to do many times. How about you?

Each time I fall down, God is right there to pick me up again. His love is amazing!

As you go through your day, look for opportunities to show kindness and love to others.

A kind word of encouragement and a friendly smile could be just what they need.

Thought for the day - Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. - Ephesians 4:32

Have A Great Day!
