"Magical Moments"

The Fall Season is officially in high gear, and before we know it, a brand new year will begin.
Let's not hurry through these last few months and miss out on magical moments.
While writing this blog, a song by Alabama entitled, "I'm In A Hurry And Don't Know Why", came to mind:
I'm in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I'm in a hurry and don't know why
Don't know why I have to drive so fast
My car has nothing to prove
It's not new
But it'll do zero to sixty in five point two
Can't be late, I leave in plenty of time
Shakin' hands with the clock
I can't stop
I'm on a roll and I'm ready to rock
Oh, I hear a voice
That says I'm running behind
Better pick up my pace
It's a race and there ain't no room for someone in second place
Do any of these lyrics resonate with you?
If so, I want to encourage you to take a deep breath, and pump the brakes long enough to catch the magical moments around you today.
I enjoyed a wonderful conversation with a friend at church yesterday. We got to catch up on life. She is in a really great season of life; her children are doing well, she loves her job, she just returned from a fun trip to NYC, her marriage is healthy, she just became a grandmother of a beautiful baby girl. These are magical moments.
As we continued our conversation, I got to share magical moments I've had through the years. And how grateful I am for the memories and traditions we set in place for our family. Some have been big and some small, but all of them are treasured and somewhat magical.
As you go through your day, look for the magic:
A job that you love
Beautiful places
Birds singing
Music
Friendships
Surprises
Offering a helping hand
Sometimes, when I'm in a magical moment, I just want to pinch myself, and make sure it is really happening. How about you?
Even when getting all dressed up for a fancy occasion, we can sometimes miss the magic of the moment by getting caught up in details that don't really matter. Has that ever happened to you?
As you go through your day today, look for the magic.
Take time to recognize the things in life that you "get" to do.
Time flies whether you're having fun or not. Traditions soon turn into memories. If they were magical moments, you will most likely remember all the details and the joy will automatically bring a smile to your face, and a feeling of gratitude will warm your heart.
Someday you won't be able to do these things anymore. Don't be in such a hurry to get things done that you miss out on the magical moments.
Thought for the day - "You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry. Don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way." - Walter Hagen
Have A Great Day!
