SHINEWORTHY LIFESTYLES - Confidence to Move Forward, Clarity To Shine!

I hope your week is off to a great start!

It's time to celebrate another day of living.

Your life is not just something to be endured, but something to be appreciated.

You, my friend, are making a difference in the lives of others. Please don't underestimate your value in this world!

Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it, is to simply accept the compliments that come your way - without a negative tag line attached.

For example, when someone compliments your outfit, instead of saying, "This old thing? I've gained so much weight and it was the only thing in my closet that would fit me." Just say, "Thank you!"

We tend to undermine the good and highlight the negative way too often, don't we?

For some, even when the boss pays us a compliment for a job well done, we respond by saying, "It was nothing." When actually, "it" was hard work and very time consuming. A better response might be, "Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate you recognizing my hard work."

I have a friend who told me that for the longest time when her husband gave her a compliment, she always down played it. She would point out something to discredit his kind words. One day, he'd had enough of her negative responses. He expressed that each time she responded this way, he felt highly insulted and devalued.

This was never her intention, however, it was just what she needed to hear in order to break this habit. Now, instead of responding in a negative way each time he expresses something he loves about her, she smiles and gladly accepts his compliments.

Why is it that people can be so uncomfortable accepting compliments and feel they have to temper them with negativity?

This week, force yourself to accept compliments without tempering them with negative words.

Think of a compliment as a gift. If someone were to give you a gift today, you would gladly accept it and say, "thank you."

Well, compliments are simply unwrapped gifts, and we need to accept them without feeling the need to explain anything.

When you accept the compliment with a positive response, it will lift your spirits as well as the person giving you the compliment. Are you up for the challenge?

Make this a fun filled week by giving sincere compliments to others, and accepting compliments from others in return, without adding a negative response.

In other words, Own your shine!
