Thank you for taking time this week to join me on a trip down Memory Lane.

As you reflected on those who impacted your life in positive ways, I hope you gained insight. Reminding you of the beautiful moments you've enjoyed.

Isn't it wonderful to look back and know there were men and women who believed in you and opened doors of opportunities for you?

As we finish out the week, I want to encourage you to take some time this weekend to capture grateful events in your life.

A Gratitude Journal is a great place to start. This will enable you to realize the gifts of life you've been given with more clarity.

I've heard it said that "What you give awareness to expands."

I am so grateful for the friend who showed me the value of journaling. I didn't take it seriously when she first talked about it. She was teaching a class and at the end of each lesson, there was a section in the book to answer a few questions and write about something you were grateful for from the week before. I skipped over that part of the assignment every time.

Finally, as a good friend should do, she confronted me, and challenged me to try it for one week.

I accepted the challenge. I have not stopped journaling since.

To go back and read my journal entries from the past, fills me with amazement. The word serendipity comes to mind. It's like a magical moment when I look back and see how everything works out at just the right time.

When I first started writing in a journal, I wasn't sure just what to write, and over the course of time I have learned it doesn't really matter.

Barbara Johnson beautifully captures the essence of journaling:

A journal is a new way for you to add joy to your life. When good things happen to lighten the load and brighten your day, write them down. When someone pays you a compliment, write it down. When you remember nice things from the past, write them down. Let the journal become a personal treasure chest - your collected thoughts of hope, gladness, and love.

If you find yourself slipping into the clutches of drudgery, pessimism, and gloom, your journal can help you stay in a frame of mind that celebrates life instead of letting it simply go by or become bogged down in the miseries.

It will help you develop a sense of humor. It will briing smile to your face and hope to your heart. It will be a treasury of gladness to inspire you for years to come.

For me personally, my journals are records of my personal journey. They take me into the very presence of God and show me how my faith and His grace and mercy have brought me to where I am today.

I encourage you to give it a try. As you begin, don't take it too seriously. It should not be looked at as a grim chore. Let this be an enjoyable and quiet time just for you. Relax and enjoy it!

Thought for the day - "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." - Wayne Dyer

Have A Great Weekend!
