Welcome to another day of living!

Today, I want to challenge you to celebrate the fact that you have a job, and are gainfully employed.

In the past few years, more and more companies are closing their doors or cutting back their workforce. This leaves men and women in all parts of the country without jobs.

And then there are those who have jobs, but don't always appreciate what they have.

I'm reminded of a friend who wanted to make a career move in her mid-forties. She had a good job but felt it was time to move in a different direction. We prayed daily that God would provide her with a better job opportunity.

One day, out of the blue, she received a phone call from a friend telling her about a company needing to fill a brand new position that required many of the skills and talents she possessed.

After a lengthy interview process and continuous prayers, she was finally offered the job. She even received a higher salary than what was originally quoted to her. She accepted the offer and was excited about starting a new career.

Not long after she began, she started complaining about the job. Once again, she was unsatisfied. Why?

I believe she had a lapse in memory and simply forgot that this job opportunity was an answered prayer, a gift from God, and a perfect match for her abilities. Do you know anyone like this? Has this happened to you?

There's not a perfect job situation out there. Do you know why?

Because any time you have more than one person involved in a project, conflict can arise.

I've heard it said that 90% of all problems stem from a lack of communication.

People are not all alike, and you will find that not everyone will appreciate you for who you really are. Then there are others who will not have the same work ethic as you.

If you are working just to get a paycheck, then your heart may not be in the a place of gratitude.

The Unemployment Office has a steady stream of people who are longing for opportunities to work, yet there are those who have jobs who are complaining about the fact that they "have to work."

On A Personal Note:

Years ago, I began praying that God would use me every day in every way. I said things to Him in my prayers like, "Lord, use me." "Help me make a difference in the lives of others." "I'll go where you want me to go and do what you want me to do."

In doing this, I have taken a different approach to my daily life and routine. I truly believe that every job I've had is a direct result of these prayers.

But, I must admit that I too have found myself complaining about the jobs, the people, the circumstances, the long hours, and the inconveniences. Shame on me when this happens!

Below are some reminders that lead to a better outlook as you go through your day:

  1. The job is a way to make a living, but it is not your life.

  2. Use this job to make a difference in the lives of others.

  3. Treat everyone with dignity and respect even if they don't do the same for you.

  4. Spend your time, talents, and money earned in a way that pleases God.

  5. God blessed you with a job - use it to bless others.

In God's Holy Word, there is a verse in Colossians 3:23 that says this:

"Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people."

With this kind of mindset, situations that seemed intolerable become more tolerable. You will begin to look at people through God's eyes and not your own.

Thought for the day - Instead of saying, "I have to work" - say, I get to work".

It's amazing how that simple mindshift will generate an attitude of gratitude.

Have A Great Day!

Thank you!
