Today, I would like to invite you to continue taking a trip with me down Memory Lane.

Try and remember the people who saw potential in you and challenged you to live up to that potential. For me, most of these men and women were teachers. Is that true for you too?

Did you have any children in your classes who seemed always to raise their hand to answer every question or to tell a long story when the teacher was trying to teach the class?

I must admit, I was that little girl. Now that I think back on that, I'm sure my teachers didn't particularly like it, but they never seemed to show it.

Teachers help shape us into the adults we are today, and I am grateful for each and every one of them!

Teachers influence us more than we realize. I had a piano teacher in Plymouth, North Carolina named Mrs. McClannahan. She genuinely loved teaching me to play the piano. To this day when I think of her, I get a warm feeling and long to go back to her house for another lesson.

A few years ago, my husband and I were in a grocery store in Elberton, Georgia. Suddenly, a rather large woman came running over to Randy and gave him a great big hug. I wasn't sure who she was, but I could tell she was a very special person to my husband. Randy introduced me to Mrs. Smith, his seventh grade teacher.

I encourage you to take some time today to list a few of the teachers that you have fond memories of from your childhood.

Most teachers live very sacrificial lives. They not only teach the daily curriculum, but also teach personal relationship skills. Oh, I know they get their summers off. But how many teachers do you know that actually do nothing in the summers? The teachers that I know are usually furthering their education or volunteering to teach Vacation Bible School or work at summer camps. Their love for children goes way beyond the classroom.

We have so much to be thankful for, and we owe much of our success as adults to those who took an interest in us early on!

Let's take time today to thank teachers for all they do!

Thought for the day - "Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best." - Bob Talbert

Have A Great Day!
